Every year, the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon is an opportunity for caravan and motorhome manufacturers to showcase their latest products to the public. This year was no exception. Bürstner took advantage of the 2024 edition, held from August 30 to September 8, to present Talis, its vision of the caravan of the future. We were there to discover this prototype.

A caravan for electric vehicles

Designed in a wind tunnel to optimise its penetration of the air, the Talis caravan offers an aerodynamic shape with a tapered front ready to split the air. The rear tapers to minimise the turbulence that slows down the towing vehicle. And so reduce energy consumption. This aerodynamic design, combined with its lightweight construction, makes the Talis a caravan designed to be towed by electric vehicles without reducing their range too much.

Incorporating Vanlife ideas into the caravan

To optimise the space available in its small volume, the Talis offers extension systems such as the Air-Xtension. This enlarges the sleeping space by transforming the fixed transverse bed into a longitudinal bed measuring 200 x 170 cm when deployed. In addition to this extension of the interior volume with a bellows system inspired by that already fitted to the Lyseo TD Gallery motorhome, the Talis borrows a number of ideas from the world of vans (or boating), which is used to maximising the use of space. For example, there is a children’s bed under the transverse bed. This children’s ‘bedroom’ can be used as storage during the journey, there are numerous modular storage compartments, a portable kitchen module that can be used outdoors, and a removable bench seat in the lounge.

If it does not see the light of day in the form presented at the Düsseldorf caravan show, there is no doubt that some of the ideas incorporated in this prototype will soon be available in Bürstner motorhomes or caravans.
