The roof tent has never been so fashionable. On their own on the roof of a car, or as a complement to a fully-equipped van or a tear drop caravan, they are increasingly being seen on campsites. New brands are regularly arriving on the market. Not all of them are of interest to us. However, when a new 100% French brand with a delicious retro flavour appears, it tickles our curiosity.

The Fairtent brand was born in Compiègne. Its creator, Thomas Revivard, designed a tent that met his requirements: a soft cotton tent (without a rigid shell) with a retro design. All made entirely in France, 80% of it in the Hauts-de-France region. With a selection of partners located no more than 1 hour 30 minutes from Compiègne, the number of kilometres needed to cover the entire supply chain is 486 km. As well as promoting a short supply chain, the Fairtent roof tent is made from selected materials that are easy to repair and recycle. All of which makes this new roof tent a very attractive product.

For the moment, the Fairtent is available in a single model for two people which, when unfolded, offers a sleeping area of 215 cm x 122 cm and a height of 100 cm. It has a maximum load capacity of 180 kg. When folded, its dimensions are 107 cm x 122 cm x 25 cm. It is then protected by a PVC cover and weighs 47 kg, making it suitable for most vehicles, including small city cars. The fabric is 100% cotton 310 g/m².

Unfortunately, we haven’t yet had the time to test the Fairtent tent, but it’s on the agenda as soon as the fine weather returns. We’ll be sure to try it out at one of the We Love Camping campsites. In the meantime, we’ll be sure to meet its creator at his workshop in Compiègne.
